Lately

Lately things have managed to be pretty low key.  With Thomas drinking regular liquids from any cup and having dairy, it's like a different world.  I still get really excited when I see him drink :)  Sometimes, I even stalk him and try to take pictures because it brings me that much joy:

But I am always a second too late.  And my favorite discovery was the Comfy Belly website.  (comfybelly.com)  It enabled me to make Thomas delicious egg, wheat, rice and oat free cupcakes for his 2nd birthday!  That was a goal of mine, and I couldn't have done it otherwise.  I have figured out that most recipes that call for eggs work just fine with egg replacer.

For his eosinophilic esophagitis, he recently did a 2 month stint on the "slurry"... 2 vials of budesonide mixed with 10 packets of splenda.  He hated it.  Steve had to pin him down and I had to force his mouth open and closed to made sure he swallowed it.  As much as I hated it, he had an endoscopy 2 weeks ago and we were told he is in remission!  However the post endoscopy plans were not what we had in mind.  They want us to continue the slurry indefinitely.  I want to continue pressing on with diet changes so we can get some answers.  They don't know the long term affects of being on the slurry for years, so while it's an easy fix that would mean he could have almost everything he is allergic to, I don't like not knowing what it might mean for him 20 years from now.  Plus, I would really like to know what is causing the EE in case it never goes away.  This makes perfect sense to me, but somehow not to the doctors.  We are doing more allergy testing on Monday.  I have a feeling it's corn related... but we will see.

Other than that, I have loved the spring weather in Boston!  I have made sure that Thomas and I have gotten plenty of outdoor time, exploring Boston and going to parks.  This is the latest favorite picture of our family, taken by a nice tourist at the Old State House when we spent a day in Boston, visiting my friend Meredith when she was in town for the Boston Marathon (which was the hottest Boston Marathon ever, I think, and yet Meredith ran her best time yet, and just an amazing time for any marathon runner... a 3:18!!!!)

I'm back!

Hello!  I have decided to start this up again, now that Thomas is doing well and changing every day.  I am constantly amazed at the things he knows and his abilities.  More to come later!
